Between unfurling rawk riffs with her supergroup Wild Flag and crackin’ smiles on comedy program Portlandia, Carrie Brownstein’s plate is pretty full these days, but a new interview hints that she might have some extra time to spare to revisit her indie roots and reunite with her old band Sleater-Kinney.
Speaking with Wired, the guitarist admitted that Sleater-Kinney, who went on an indefinite hiatus back in 2006, have been on her mind lately, and she’s even discussed the possibility of getting back together with former co-writer Corin Tucker.
“Corin and I are still the best of friends, and we have been talking a lot about Sleater-Kinney as something to do again,” said Brownstein. If they decide to give it another shot, it shouldn’t be too hard to get drummer Janet Weiss on board, considering she currently pounds the skins in Wild Flag.
An e-mail from Tucker confirms a reunion is something she “would love to do someday,” but considering she has her own Corin Tucker Band on the go as well, it’s just a matter of finding the time to put aside for the potentially rebooted project.
“I’m working on a record with my band this year, and Wild Flag is touring, and there’s a couple of other things happening too,” she told Wired.
English alt-pop outfit the Joy Formidable made waves last year when they released their debut LP The Big Roar, but in case you missed out on the early buzz, the act will head back across the pond this March for another North American tour. This time around, though, they’ll be joined by noisy New York trio A Place to Bury Strangers.
The bands kicks things off on the West Coast for a two-night stand at San Francisco’s the Independent, but the mostly-U.S. tour will be capped by a couple of Canadian dates. First up on this side of the border is a set at Montreal’s Cabaret Mile-End on March 31, while the trip closer takes place April 2 at Toronto’s Lee’s Palace. Also joining the Joy Formidable and A Place to Bury Strangers on most dates are Brooklyn-based duo Exitmusic. You can check the rest of the details below.

Los Angeles singer-songwriter, Alexx Calise, has been busy filming her new music video for the song “Cry” – which makes its official drop in February…& last month she sported a pair of her favorite Airwalk shoes, while shooting some scenes with a very special gueststar (whom, at this time, cannot be named). AIRWALK.COM has featured exclusive behind-the-scenes photos from the video shoot on their blog & Facebook page, which you can check out here.
Also, the budding artist was featured on Quiznos Facebook page (for chompin’ down on one of their fantastic subs during a break at the shoot) & fans can “Enter to Win” a signed copy of her CD, “In Avanti”. Be sure to check it out, & don’t forget to leave Quiznos a comment showing your AC/SUB LOVE!!! Alexx would also like to give a big “shout out” to all the other companies that made the video filming possible, including Gibson Guitars & Lip Service NYC.
